On Friday, March 20th, 2020, between the hours of 1:00 a.m. – 5:00 a.m. CDT, Blackboard Cloud Services will be performing network maintenance on the data center that houses UA’s Blackboard Learn instance. While they anticipate no interruption in service as a result of the work being performed, they cannot entirely rule out periods of service interruptions during these maintenance windows. They will make all efforts to keep any service disruption within the window to a minimum, but clients should be aware that interruptions are possible.
MacOS users that have upgraded their operating system to Catalina (10.15) are unable to use their webcam in Blackboard Collaborate Original sessions. After upgrading to MacOS Catalina (10.15), users will receive a “No video sources found” error when attempting to use their webcam.
Update – Last week, during a UA-initiated technical process, an incident occurred that deleted the Blackboard Learn accounts for about 200 students. The enrolled students have been added back into their spring 2020 Blackboard Learn courses, but we are still attempting to recover access to their course work for this semester. All affected instructors and students have been notified.
We are working with our technical support teams at UA and at Blackboard to restore access to the deleted submissions and grades.
We will provide an update on this issue by 4pm on Tuesday, 2/25. [24 Feb @ 15:57]
Update – Wednesday, access to Spring 2020 (202010) courses was restored for those who were previously removed, but grades and student work may still be unavailable for those users. [20 Feb @ 09:06]

OIT encourages Mac users to not upgrade to Catalina at this time. If you have any questions, please contact the IT Service Desk at 205-348-5555.
OIT has discovered several enterprise-wide incompatibilities with the Mac OS Catalina. One of these instances is that 32-bit applications cannot run on Catalina. This includes Endnote, McAfee, OIT’s remote support tool, and several other applications. Tegrity is experiencing compatibility issues as well.
