Known Issue – Simple Syllabus Deadline Reminders

Update: The notifications error from Simple Syllabus is an issue within the syllabus management system. UA has reported this to the vendor, and  Simple Syllabus support is working on a resolution.


CIT has received reports that instructors and faculty received notifications about unpublished syllabi in error. We are looking into this issue and will keep you updated.

If you are having technical issues accessing or publishing your syllabus, please contact the Center for Instructional Technology for assistance.

Resolved – Turnitin Similarity Report issue

Resolved– Turnitin Support has resolved this issue.

This service disruption happened between August 7, 2024 3:00 PM to August 9, 2024 11:15 AM.


Users may have intermittently found that Turnitin Similarity Reports were stuck processing, or experienced issues in downloading a copy of a Similarity Report and/or digital receipt.

Please contact the Center for Instructional Technology if you are still experiencing any issues with Turnitin Similarity Reports.

Known Issue – Hypothesis and YouTube Video Transcript Error

Hypothesis is experiencing an issue with the YouTube video transcript API.

Explanation: New YouTube assignments created within Hypothesis will not display transcripts for annotation due to an issue with the YouTube video transcript API. The Hypothesis team is actively working with YouTube to resolve this issue. 

Existing YouTube assignments will continue to function as expected.

Known Issue – Simple Syllabus

Courses and course materials may take 24-48 hours to appear in your syllabus in Simple Syllabus.

Explanation: Simple Syllabus receives nightly updates from Banner/myBama for instructor and student enrollment and course/section creation. Course materials listed with the University SUpply Store may not appear in Simple Syllabus for 2 days.

Resolved- Panopto Service Disruption 8-3

Resolved 8/3/24 6:45 AM: Panopto Support reports that the issue is resolved. They are monitoring the site to ensure that it remains resolved. This disruption lasted from approximately 5:55 AM – 6:45 AM Central.


Panopto Support is investigating a service disruption. Users may be unable to access the site and view, edit or upload new recordings.

We will update this post as we receive new information. If you have questions, please contact the Center for Instructional Technology via email or their support portal.

Resolved – Missing Course Videos Link

RESOLVED – 7/04/24 @ 4:00 AM CT: The issue is resolved. Course Videos links are now present in all courses.

If you are still having trouble accessing Panopto content, please contact CIT.


Some Blackboard courses may be missing the Course Videos link. The Course Videos link allows instructors and students to access Panopto, our lecture capture and video management software.

Workaround

If your course is missing the link, you can access the videos directly in Panopto. Follow these steps:

  1. In your web browser, visit UA’s Panopto site.
  2. Select Blackboard in the dropdown menu. This will redirect you to a Blackboard login page.
  3. Enter your myBama username and password.
  4. In Panopto, select Browse.
  5. In the pop-out tray, expand the My Courses folder to view your course folders.
  6. Choose the appropriate course folder for your Blackboard course to view videos.

If you are unable to see any video content, please contact CIT for more troubleshooting. We will update this post when the issue is resolved.

Known Issue – Simple Syllabus Issues

CIT is aware of some issues within Simple Syllabus. 1) Users may experience slowness when using Simple Syllabus. 2) Users may not see their upcoming course syllabus listed in the Simple Syllabus system.

There is a background process that is taking longer than expected, and the vendor is working to resolve it. We will update this post with any new information.
