Collaborate Ultra Maintenance Saturday March 14

Blackboard will be performing unscheduled infrastructure maintenance for Collaborate Ultra in US (AWS Virginia) on Saturday, March 14, 2020 from 1:00 PM EDT (Eastern Daylight Time) GMT -4 hours to Saturday, March 14, 2020 6:00 PM EDT (Eastern Daylight Time) GMT -4 hours. The expected duration of downtime for this work is 3 hours, during which Collaborate Ultra users may not have access to Ultra sessions, recordings or scheduler. Users may experience intermittent availability throughout the remainder of the window. Please be aware that the complete maintenance window will be used if necessary.

March 20 – Datacenter Maintenance – Service Interruption Possible

On Friday, March 20th, 2020, between the hours of 1:00 a.m. – 5:00 a.m. CDT, Blackboard Cloud Services will be performing network maintenance on the data center that houses UA’s Blackboard Learn instance. While they anticipate no interruption in service as a result of the work being performed, they cannot entirely rule out periods of service interruptions during these maintenance windows. They will make all efforts to keep any service disruption within the window to a minimum, but clients should be aware that interruptions are possible.

Blackboard Collaborate and MacOS Catalina

MacOS users that have upgraded their operating system to Catalina (10.15) are unable to use their webcam in Blackboard Collaborate Original sessions. After upgrading to MacOS Catalina (10.15), users will receive a “No video sources found” error when attempting to use their webcam.

Blackboard Learn Account Issue

Update – Last week, during a UA-initiated technical process, an incident occurred that deleted the Blackboard Learn accounts for about 200 students. The enrolled students have been added back into their spring 2020 Blackboard Learn courses, but we are still attempting to recover access to their course work for this semester. All affected instructors and students have been notified.

We are working with our technical support teams at UA and at Blackboard to restore access to the deleted submissions and grades.

Update – Wednesday, access to Spring 2020 (202010) courses was restored for those who were previously removed, but grades and student work may still be unavailable for those users. [20 Feb @ 09:06]


Update – As of Wednesday morning, 2/19, some users are still experiencing this issue. It is currently being investigated and will be resolved as soon as possible. [19 Feb @ 09:05]

It has come to our attention that some users may not see their Blackboard Learn courses right now. This problem began earlier today and we hope it will be resolved quickly. MAC OS 10.13 support EOL for Desktop Products (Drive, Sync, Tools, Notes)

After April 30th, 2020, Box will end support for Box Drive, Box Sync,  Box Tools & Box Notes Desktop on Mac OS X 10.13.  Per Box’s OS support policy, they will maintain support for Box on the two latest versions of Mac OS X. To continue to enjoy Box support, please be sure you’re on a supported OS, either OS X 10.15 or OS X 10.14, after this EOL date. Following the EOL date, users will be able to access these applications on OS X 10.13, but will be entirely unsupported by Box, including all security patches.

Tuesday, February 4, 2020 8:20 a.m. CST – Collaborate Original users may be experiencing trouble connecting to sessions or performance/latency issues while in sessions. If you have trouble connecting, please try again. Blackboard technicians are investigating the root cause of this issue.

Error Getting Events Popup in Blackboard Calendar

Students enrolled in courses that use McGraw Hill assignments may receive an error when viewing their calendar in any course. Deselecting the course using McGraw Hill and refreshing the page populates assignments for all other courses.
