Upcoming Blackboard login change 5-10-26

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is transitioning The University of Alabama to a new single sign-on (SSO), Okta. This effort will consolidate all university login experiences into one secure, consistent system. As part of this transition, the Blackboard login page will change to provide login paths for UA users and non-UA users to access their Blackboard courses.

When?

Sunday, May 10, 2026 – Blackboard will transition to Okta as the single sign-on provider, and the direct login page will get an update.

What does this mean for you?

Access Blackboard via direct URL

If you access Blackboard via https://ualearn.blackboard.com or the Blackboard mobile app, the login page will have a new look. Users should select the appropriate button: Login with myBama ID or All Other Users Login.

Blackboard login page with the UA logo and Blackboard logo. Two buttons are present for "Login with myBama ID" and "All Other Users Login"
  • Login with myBama ID: Select this option if you are faculty, staff, or student at UA. This option will direct you to the new UA login page where you will enter your UA email address and password. After you sign in, you will be directed to Blackboard.
  • All Other Users Login: Select this option if you do not have a UA email address and need to access Blackboard for a non-degree program or as a guest. Username and password fields will appear. Enter the username and password provided to you to access Blackboard.

Access Blackboard via myBama

If you access Blackboard through myBama, the myBama login experience will have a new look and feel. You will now use your UA email address and password to login. Once you are signed in to myBama, you can still access Blackboard by selecting the Blackboard link on the Quick Links menu.
