The Center for Instructional Technology, housed within Academic Affairs, provides an umbrella of related instructional technology tools and services, designed to facilitate teaching, learning, and collaboration by the academic community at The University of Alabama.
A close working organization comprised of four individual groups – Audio-Visual Solutions, Emerging Technology and Accessibility, and the Faculty Resource Center – the CIT maintains a collaborative working relationship with such service departments as the Office of Information Technology, the University Libraries, Facilities, Athletics, and the Office of Disability Services.
The charge of the Center for Instructional Technology is to provide the standardized resources as well as the vision, support and leadership to the University of Alabama in the effective uses of those technologies for enhancing learning as well as facilitating specific strategic initiatives. CIT fulfills its mission by fostering collaboration and innovation with faculty and university stakeholders in the design, development, and effective use of both physical and online learning environments and the production of educational media.
The CIT wants to proactively help the University and its faculty transform teaching and learning through the use of instructional technology – engaging students and fostering critical thinking, problem solving, and collaboration.
