We have received sporadic reports about issues with Blackboard tests that require Respondus Lockdown Browser. If you are getting an error message before or during your test, please review the following information to troubleshoot the issue.
System Requirements
Please ensure that your device meets the system requirements to use the software:
- Windows: 11
- Mac: macOS 11 to 26.0+
- iPadOS: 12.0+ (iPad only); Only available for iPad if the instructor enables it in the Lockdown Browser settings

- UA’s Respondus Lockdown Browser is not available for Google Chromebook
- LockDown Browser and Respondus Monitor may continue to run in older operating systems that have reached “end-of-life” but students may encounter unexpected results.

You might encounter this error based on several possibilities, such as a loss of internet connection, security alerts from an anti-virus app, other popups from various apps, Windows 10 MAC address randomization, and a full browser cache.
Possible solutions:
- Clear your browser cache
- Turn off MAC address randomization on your device
- Relax or turn off anti-virus alerts and other app alerts
