Reminder: Okta Verify is coming to Blackboard

Beginning October 5, Blackboard will require Okta Verify multi-factor authentication (MFA) for faculty and staff accounts. This means faculty & staff accessing Blackboard via the direct URL, https://ualearn.blackboard.com, will be prompted to approve their login using the Okta Verify app, similar to other UA services protected by multi-factor authentication. Users that access Blackboard through myBama will not have to authenticate again.

Who does this affect?

This change applies only to faculty and staff accessing Blackboard through https://ualearn.blackboard.com. The MFA requirement is being implemented only for faculty and staff accounts as an added security measure.

Does anything change for students?

No. Student access to Blackboard will remain unchanged. Likewise, this update will not impact students’ ability to take proctored exams or access their coursework.
