Beginning October 5, Blackboard will require Okta Verify multi-factor authentication (MFA) for faculty and staff accounts. This means faculty & staff accessing Blackboard via the direct URL, https://ualearn.blackboard.com, will be prompted to approve their login using the Okta Verify app, similar to other UA services protected by multi-factor authentication.
This change applies only to faculty and staff. Students will not be required to use Okta Verify to access Blackboard, via the direct URL.
Student access to Blackboard will remain unchanged. Likewise, this update will not impact students’ ability to take proctored exams or access their coursework. The MFA requirement is being implemented only for faculty and staff accounts as an added security measure.
If you have any questions regarding this change, contact CIT. If you have issues using Okta, contact the IT Service Desk. Additional information and support resources will be shared before the October 5 implementation date.
