Known Issue – Blackboard Authentication Error

Issue

Users may receive an error message when logging in to Blackboard. It reads, “Sign On Error! Blackboard Learn is currently unable to log into your account using Single sign-on because the authentication request has expired. Please log out of your single sign-on and try again.”

Users can choose to select the button Return to Login Page, but that may not solve the issue.

Sign On Error! Blackboard Learn is currently unable to log into your account using Single sign-on because the authentication request has expired. Please log out of your single sign-on and try again.

Workarounds

We are working on a resolution to this issue, but in the meantime, we can provide some temporary workarounds.

Option 1: Log out of Single-Sign On (Okta)

  1. Navigate to myapps.ua.edu.
  2. Select your name in the top-right corner.
  3. Choose Sign Out.
  4. Try to log in to Blackboard again.

Option 2: Open a Private/Icognito window and try to login again

You should ALWAYS be able to access Blackboard by starting either an incognito or private window in your web browser. By default, all modern web browsers use the CTRL + Shift + N shortcut keys that will instantly open the in-private browsing window of the selected browser.

Option 3: Clear your browser cache

Clear the cache in your internet browser and try to log in to Blackboard again. Clearing the history isn’t enough. Visit our help article for more information: Clear cache & cookies in your browser
